This is your portal to the music of New York and the indie sounds of Fil-Am groups all over the United States.
Rather than compete with other Pinoy malls who concentrate on the recordings of popular OPM artists, PortalPinoy would like to distinguish itself by giving our Fil-Am talents here in the US (and hopefully, the indie recordings of artists from Manila as well) space in the Tindahan. In the few months that we have been working on putting this site together, I have been continually amazed at the artistry and innate versatility of the Filipino artist. Check this page out regularly for new releases and new artists. We promise you a continually diverse list of musicians that will keep you coming back to PortalPinoy.

jessica velasquez in new york AkustikMaya is back in the scene with its frontliner, Jessica Velasquez bringing a new flavor to the big apple. Those who know Jessica from years past were surprised to hear that she is in New York, thinking that she had left the East Coast to move to California. After a haitus of a few years, Jessica is back and she reports that she has been hit with a wave of inspiration that has seen her churning out new material that is new and different, yet stamped with her brand of music.Recent performances include a gig at THE SANCTUARY in the East Village last August 23. You'll be seeing more of AkustikMaya in the days to come, and we'll be telling you all about it here on Portal Pinoy.

I am based on the East Coast where, unfortunately, we have limited resources to things Filipino. So why not try to improve on the sites already up and give the East Coast Pinoy another alternative? This is a site in transition. Like most ventures, it starts with an idea. We'll go with the flow and play it by ear ika nga.
